Beer You Go Road Trip 000: Jekyll Brewing

Jekyll Brewing

Alright - Grace and I are getting the hang of this whole living in an RV on the road thing and we're ready to start putting out some content. We've traveled to 8 breweries so far and we'll have a little write up on each of them - starting today with Jekyll Brewing in Alpharetta, GA, the closest brewery to our house back home and first stop!

Jekyll Brewing is the official hometown brewery of Beer You Go. If Andrew and I are going to choose an IPA that we know we like it's always Jekyll's Hop Dang Diggity, a true Southern IPA with pine notes stabilized with flavorful malts. As Jekyll says, "Hopped up like a one-legged chicken, this ain’t your standard IPA, Darlin."

Jekyll's name is derived from the first brewery in the Deep South founded on Jekyll Island, Georgia and lays claim to being the first brewery themselves in Alpharetta, GA.

Located not far from downtown Alpharetta, a growing suburb just north of Atlanta, the taproom is large enough to handle you and all your friends. On occasion, you can cheer on your favorite local sports team on a large projector with a fresh draft of your favorite brew in hand. You'll find fun games inside (Golden Tee is a favorite) and cornhole sets outside if you enjoy a light physical activity to burn some of the calories you're drinking.

You can always find a wide variety of taps ready to go when you walk in. While they always have an incredible year round selection (IPAs, a kolsch, brown ale, red ale, and lager)  they keep you coming back with their seasonal and limited edition releases on a regular basis. They brewers there know their stuff and love to explore new brew recipes for customers to enjoy.

Don't know what kind of beer you like? The bartenders are kind, patient and willing to help you find the one you like. They'll ask you about what your favorite foods or cocktails are to help you find just the right one.

Want to know more about the beer you're drinking? They can answer that too! Everyone we spoke with at the bar knew the story behind the beers and what the brewing process, including ingredients, looked like. At different times throughout the week you can take a look at their top notch brewing facility and the mesmerizing automated bottler. I could sit and watch that thing for days.

We recorded a podcast with Nate from Jekyll and we're looking forward to releasing that in the near future!

Next time you are in Atlanta or the surrounding area pick up some Jekyll from the gas station or stop by the taproom and tell them Beer You Go sent you!
